30 injured on AirEuropa flight hit by severe turbulence
30 injured on AirEuropa flight hit by severe turbulence, scheduled from Madrid to Montevideo, Uruguay but rerouted to Natal Brazil
During turbulence over the Atlantic, a passenger and other Tourists were tossed into an overhead bin.
At least thirty persons are hurt during an emergency landing due to “strong turbulence” on the route to Uruguay.
As Flight UX045 approached the Brazilian coast in the Atlantic, it encountered turbulence while en route from Madrid to Montevideo.
After that, it was redirected to the northeastern Brazilian city of Natal.
A Tourist was seen being hauled out of an overhead luggage bin in a video taken from inside the aircraft.
Some passengers were thrown to the ceiling.
Fifteen ambulances came on the runway to greet the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, which was carrying over three hundred people.
The governor of the neighbouring state of Rio Grande do Norte said that the majority of the injured were sent to Monsenhor Walfredo Gurgel Hospital in Natal.
The Tourists were subsequently flown to Uruguay by another aircraft that departed from Madrid.
They will first be flown south to the city of Recife because Natal is not an Air Europa route.
The 73-year-old British passenger who died may have experienced cardiac arrest, according to officials.
