Maha Songkran World Water Festival 2026 opens in Bangkok at Benchakitti Park in Bangkok by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT)

The five-day festival, which runs till April 15, is one of Thailand’s biggest Songkran celebrations, combining live entertainment, cultural heritage, and water celebrations.
Senior officials from the public and commercial sectors, as well as Mr. Surasak Phancharoenworakul, Minister of Tourism and Sports, attended the inauguration ceremony on April 11.

“Maha Songkran World Water Festival 2026 is a celebration designed for everyone – across generations, regions, and the world,” stated TAT Governor Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool.

It strengthens Songkran’s reputation as a truly international celebration by fusing the finest aspects of Thai tradition with modern celebration.

With Songkran in Thailand being recognised by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, we are pleased to offer an experience that is both aggressively modern and firmly anchored in tradition, further solidifying Thailand’s standing as a top festival destination.

The Maha Songkran World Event procession, which takes place on the main stage at 18:30 on opening night, features this year’s Songkran deity, Nang Raksasdevi, who is portrayed by Opal Suchata Chuangsri, Miss World 2025.

From 11:00 to 22:00 every day, the “Songkran 5 Regions” zone promotes Thailand’s regional diversity through traditional performances, local product displays, events, and temple fair experiences like sand pagoda construction and Buddha image bathing.

With more than 100 vendors selling Thai food and goods, accessible spaces for the elderly and kids provide accessibility for people of all ages.

Leading Thai performers, including Fool Step, Zani, Zeal, Kratae, Asia7, The Mousses, Lham Somphol, Ink Waruntorn, Monica, Playground, Palmy, Maiyarap, Clockwork Motionless, 4EVE, Bodyslam, Taitosmith, MEYOU, Getsunova, Tilly Birds, and Joey Boy, perform on the main stage from 17:00 to 22:00.

In the meantime, 4 TEN, Nuttrix, Joy Lila, Jay Schema, Gail Werner, Spacemonkey, 22Bullets, Patcha, Hanky, Dome, Hugo, Brynna, Roxy June, Max, Xillix, and Notxerius will perform on the EDM stage and water play area from 16:00 to 22:00.

Every night ends with a drone light show involving over 1,200 drones.

To guarantee a flawless, pleasurable experience for everyone, public agencies, such as the Tourist Police Bureau, and event partners work together seamlessly to prioritise safety and security.

Increased on-site assistance, intelligent traffic flow, focused crowd management, beneficial visitor hubs, and 24-hour support across the venue are all advantages for attendees.

The Maha Songkran World Water Festival 2026 will be held in Bangkok’s Benchakitti Park from April 11–15. It costs nothing to enter.

The park is easily accessible by foot from both the BTS Asok station and the MRT Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre station, thus visitors are urged to take public transportation.
