Uganda Named Most Promising New Destination and as one of the biggest travel and tourism marketplaces in the world

The Outbound Travel Market (OTM) Expo Bombay in India, which just ended

awarded Uganda the title of most promising new destination. Joyce Kakuramatsi Kikafunda

The premier Indo-Asia Travel Expo took place from January 30 to February 1, 2025. Every year

this esteemed travel trade expo draws a large number of vendors and consumers of travel-related goods.

Uganda is now at the doorstep of one of the biggest travel and tourism marketplaces in the world thanks to the event.

Busunga Tours and Travel Ltd., Moments Beyond Borders, Country Sights, Nandi Adventures, Ameera Africa Safaris, Speke Uganda Holidays, Crystal Safaris and Lodges, and Uganda Safari Company (Wild Places Africa) are among the nine Ugandan destination marketing companies that took part and represented the country.

Notably, judges use a preset criterion that is based on feedback from customers to determine which pavilion or stand is the best exhibitor. This indicates that Uganda became the most popular and well regarded destination for both inbound and outgoing tourists.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday,

“this is proof that Uganda achieved its set objective at this event to position herself as an alternative tourism destination

in the heart of Africa by showcasing the unique products she has to offer, ranging from primate tracking

(gorilla and chimpanzee), birdwatching with over 1200 species, culture and heritage, safaris, freshwater lakes etc.”

“Going ahead, Uganda has to present Uganda as the top travel destination,

take advantage of this accolade, keep taking part in this esteemed yearly event

and use other comparable venues to develop alliances with the main travel companies in this industry.

This will ensure that the New Delhi Mission plays a major role in helping the nation achieve its goal of growing its economy tenfold to USD 500 billion in the next fifteen years,” the ministry continued.

In order to give leading and significant tour operators from India the “experiential” of the product

which they will then recommend to their customers, the Uganda High Commission in New Delhi

in collaboration with the pertinent stakeholders, plans to arrange a FAM trip for them to Uganda in the coming two months.

In order to enter the Indian market, the Ugandan Mission in India is also targeting influencers, such as top travel and tour publications and Bollywood movie stars and producers who have a sizable social media following.

According to the Ministry, Ramji, a famous Indian film producer and superstar who began his career in Uganda, has agreed to revive his dream of making a film that showcases all of Uganda’s tourist attractions and picturesque locales.

In order to facilitate connections with Indian companies, the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) is supposed to find trustworthy tour operators that can serve as domestic market representatives.

Uganda’s participation in the Indo-Asia Tourism Expo is being jointly organized by the Ministry of Tourism, Uganda Airlines, the Uganda High Commission to India, and The Uganda Tourism Board, the Uganda Wildlife Authority, the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, Foreign Affairs, and Uganda Tour Operators.
