Uganda Airlines announces to launch 3 new routes in Africa to the capital cities of Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Nigeria in September 2024.
The chief executive officer of Uganda Airlines, Jenifer Bamuturaki says the additional flights will improve Uganda’s connectivity to the rest of Africa.
The inauguration event on Wednesday in Kampala, the country’s capital was attended by many Uganda Tourism players.
“The opening of the new lines marks a significant turning point in our ongoing efforts to promote Tourism within Africa.
With direct flights and seamless connectivity, the construction of an air bridge to West and Southern Africa will benefit travellers.
Tourists will also benefit who will travel across the continent.
The connectivity will pen up numerous prospects for trade, business and sociocultural relations, according to Bamuturaki.
The national airline, Uganda Airlines, made an announcement here on Wednesday.
The cranes is operating in Kenya, Tanzania, DR Congo, Somalia, South Sudan, South Africa, United Arab Emirates.
Mores is India, Burundi and Lagos, the largest city in Nigeria.
Increasing the number of flights to Nigeria
In October 2023, Uganda Airlines began operating flights to Lagos.
This resulted in a notable reduction in the duration of travel between Uganda and Nigeria.
At this time, the airline is approved to fly to Abuja and Kano, two more cities, from the Nigerian Ministry of Aviation.
On September 12, 2024, the airline will begin operating flights to Abuja Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (ABV).
The service will be run using its flagship Airbus A330-800 aircraft twice a week, on Sundays and Thursdays.
The normal Sunday, Monday, and Thursday Entebbe-Lagos service is extended via this route.
On Sundays, Flight UR900 departs Entebbe at 07:45 and arrive in Abuja at 12:55, based on the airline’s booking website.
It is planned to leave Entebbe at 16:00 and arrive at 20:40 local time on Thursdays.
The return flights will travel nonstop from Abuja to Entebbe.
The will leave on Sunday at 13:55 and arriving at 20:10, and arriving on Thursday at 21:40 and departing at 03:55.
