Qatar Airways Expands Flight Services to Entebbe

Qatar Airways Expands Flight Services to Entebbe International Airport by three each week in order to fulfil summer demand.

The airline will run 11 weekly flights between Doha and Entebbe from August 1 to September 30.

The goal of Qatar Airways’ development is to improve aviation connectivity throughout Africa in order to promote deeper business, cultural, and economic relationships.

“The increased frequency guarantees improved connectivity for passengers travelling from Uganda to the USA, Asia, Europe, and North Africa,”

Said Hendrik du Preez, Vice President for Africa at Qatar Airways.

Expansion of Trade and Tourism

In addition to providing ease for point-to-point travellers and saving a day of travel time because of the early arrival in Doha, it also fosters the expansion of trade and tourism between Uganda and Qatar.

Du Preez continued, “Africa is an unexplored market with growing travel and commercial potential, with 18% of the world’s population living in less than 2% of air travel.

Through collaborations with African airlines, as well as by growing the number of locations we service and the frequencies we offer, we are extending connectivity throughout the continent.

Uganda’s exports are predicted to improve as a result of Qatar Airways’ commitment to the Ugandan market, which is demonstrated by the increase of Entebbe flights.

This comes after Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) capital Kinshasa was added to the network of more than 170 international destinations served by Qatar Airways.

Four weekly flights now reach Kinshasa, increasing capacity to Angola and increasing the number of flights to Luanda from one to four per week.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) estimates that the aviation sector in Africa creates 7.7 million employment and adds $63 billion to the continent’s GDP, of which $44 billion comes from tourism. According to IATA’s prediction, the number of passengers travelling through Africa is expected to nearly double from 134 million in 2022 to over 263 million by 2035.

In conclusion, Du Preez stated that Qatar Airways is well-positioned to contribute to this growth due to its quick expansion in Africa, partnerships, and persistent pursuit of possibilities.
