A group of tourists ascending Yandang Mountain in eastern China were forced to cling to a rope.

A long a predetermined climbing route for over an hour earlier this week after being stuck halfway up a precipice.

On Chinese social media, pictures of the climbers hanging off the edge while they waited for others to go down went viral.

“This is frightful!” Someone who is frightened of heights, like me, might end up crying up there!

Another person added, “I won’t even go even if I’m offered cash to do this.”

Although all of the climbers were seen wearing helmets, harnesses, and other safety gear, a different commentator questioned what would happen if one of them fell and needed to be rescued.

These were a few of the most overtourism-prone locations for 2023.

Yandang Mountain

Yandang Mountain is 1,150 metres (3,773 feet) high and located in Zhejiang province, roughly 410 kilometres (255 miles) south of Shanghai.

Yandang Mountain, a well-liked vacation spot in China, was nominated in 2001 as a potential UNESCO World Heritage site and is still on the list.
