Kenya and Uganda to merge cultures so as to promote tourism

Kenya and Uganda will combine their cultures to boost travel in an effort to increase Tourism revenue for both East African countries.

In order to boost their visitor numbers, the two East African nations are focusing on cross-cultural tourism.

Following the consulate of Uganda in Mombasa’s attendance at the Uganda Festival, a decision was reached.

Kenya and Uganda sign a tourist agreement, committing to blending their cultures.

The goal of combining food, dancing, and cultural events is to draw tourists.
Through this programme, officials from Kenya and Uganda hope to increase the number of tourists.

According to a report published in Kenya’s Business Daily, Kenya and Uganda are seeking to work together to increase tourism-related income.

They have made the decision to incorporate dance, traditional foods, and cultural events in order to draw in more tourists.

The Ugandan consulate in Mombasa made this determination after visiting the city for four days.

The four-day excursion was related to the Uganda Festival, which takes place in Kwal, Kilifi, and Mombasa and is a gastronomic and cultural event.

Aim of the festival

Cross cultural tourismThe festival seeks to draw tourists from both abroad and Kenya.

According to Paul Mukumbya, consul general of the Republic of Uganda, “the festival aims to expose the unique Ugandan products.”

“To a wider number of corporate Kenyans, as well as other regional and international tourists at the Kenya coast.”

In 2023, 500,000 Kenyans travelled to Uganda, and 200,000 Ugandans travelled to Kenya for business or pleasure, according to the consulate general.

“The top source market for tourists travelling to Uganda is Kenya. According to official statistics, about 500,000 Kenyans travelled to Uganda in the previous year,” he stated.

He continued, “That is the reason we are encouraging more Kenyans and foreign guests to visit Uganda and try out our products.”
