Uganda restores ‘Visa on Arrival’ facility for the time being

Uganda restores ‘Visa on Arrival’ facility for the time being to enable smooth access of the pearl of Africa by Tourists and other travellers.

The Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control has decided to reinstate the Visa on Arrival option for all visitors.

This will be until the IT issues are permanently resolved.

In response to significant difficulties encountered during an upgrade to the nation’s immigration e-Visa website that resulted in the non-availability of the facility and subsequently inability of visitors to apply and pay for e-Visa.

Airlines should permit travellers headed for Entebbe to board their flights even in the absence of an e-Visa.

Following receipt of advice through the usual procedures.

The Visa on Arrival facility should be permanently retained, in parallel with the e-Visa, for qualifying and selected countries.

This will lessen the burden of obtaining an e-Visa when the website is unresponsive, slow to respond, or has payment issues.
