14 Denver-area women to take on Mount Kilimanjaro to adventure and Tour next week, Africa bucket list challenge.

This excursion was first planned a year ago and Women’s Wilderness and Life’s 2 Short Fitness collaborated on it.

According to their website, Women’s Wildnerness is a nonprofit organisation dedicated to providing an environment in which girls, women, and non-binary persons of all ages and backgrounds can discover their identity, voice, and power in nature.

According to their website, Life’s 2 Short Fitness plans workshops, clinics, community events, and classes that emphasise fitness-based curricula and skills to help inform, inspire, and empower women to participate in outdoor activities and sports like trail running, snowshoeing, mountain biking, hiking, and more.

Kriste Peoples, executive director of Women’s Wilderness and head coach at Life’s 2 Short Fitness, stated,

“I feel really fortunate that this is my work, and it doesn’t always feel like work.”

“We created a series called Peak Ready to help those women get ready for the climb of Kilimanjaro and open it up to the general public because we thought there was a wonderful synergy between the two groups.”

Peoples has been directing the 14 women in the group during their Colorado training

“We began our training in the spring, which means that we went on hikes throughout the Front Range as early as March or April,” Peoples stated.

“The group has been training with increasingly strenuous hikes over a gradual period of time.”

Peoples expressed her hope that people will relish the tour instead of concentrating just on getting there.

Colleen Maldonado, who is climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, stated, “I feel like this year I have had the first true Colorado summer because of the opportunity to get out and do some 14ers and these long hikes and camping.” “I’m getting fired up.

I’m not even kidding when I say that I was anxious, but as the day draws nearer and I see Kriste pack and consider the equipment list and other things, I begin to feel like I have some control over some aspects of the situation.

Colleen chose to participate because it offered her a fantastic chance to exercise outside and make a lasting memory.

Making friends who share similar values has been an added benefit.

“It has been fantastic; I believe I have formed some friendships as a result, which has been really cool.

You also kind of want to find your tribe of people who share your interests,” Maldonado remarked.

This is a bunch of women who clearly want to be outside taking care of themselves. Thus, being a part of this tribe has been beneficial.

Mount Kilimanjaro, at an elevation of almost 19,000 feet, will be difficult, but these women are prepared for any peak they may encounter in their lifetimes.

Peoples stated, “It’s really important to do something like this for boosting confidence and bringing that sense of accomplishment back home.”

“We will be more successful, in my opinion, if more people can truly understand that this is about the journey rather than the destination.”
