Southwest flight emergency landing in Florida is due to turbulence almost halfway through the journey that affected Tourists and passengers.
Flying from New Orleans, the radar displays strong storms over the Gulf of Mexico.
Following Southwest Airlines plane’s landing in Tampa, two persons received medical attention for their wounds.
Two Tourists on a Southwest flight were hurt when the aircraft experienced extreme turbulence over the Gulf of Mexico.
The flight was heading to Orlando International Airport and left New Orleans, Louisiana, at 6:44 in the morning.
And at 8:56 a.m., the aircraft touched down at Tampa International.
Captain’s remarks
“The Captain declared an emergency and a requirement to deviate from a filed flight plan.
Further more, he requested that paramedics be available when the aircraft arrives to assess any potential injury.
About halfway through the journey from New Orleans, strong storms were seen on radar over the Gulf of Mexico.
A cold front moving eastward causing thunderstorms and severe weather to affect Florida and a large portion of the East Coast.
Tourists landed in Orlando four and a half hours later than expected, according to Southwest.
“With our apologies for their delayed journey, there is no priority higher than the safest operation of every flight,” the carrier stated.
According to Southwest, mechanics examined the aircraft after it was on the ground.
What is Turbulence?
An abrupt change in airflow is called turbulence.
Air currents created by these erratic oscillations in the atmosphere can cause passengers on an aeroplane to jostle.
They may even be so bad as to cause an aeroplane to lose control.
