Dubai International Airport retains it’s award of being world’s busiest airport 2025 for international Travellers and Tourists.
Last year, the airport processed a record 95.2 million passengers, solidifying its position as the world’s leading international travel hub.
With around 8.8 million passengers, December 2025 turned out to be the busiest month on record.
With a record-breaking 95.2 million passengers handled annually, Dubai International Airport (DXB) has once again cemented its status as the largest airport in the world for international passenger traffic in 2025.
The milestone, which was revealed by Dubai Airports on Wednesday, solidifies DXB’s position as the leading international Tourism travel hub and represents a 3.1% rise over the 92.3 million recorded the year before.
A record-breaking year
The numbers demonstrate DXB’s outstanding growth and resilience in the face of a changing global aviation environment.
Officials noted that 98.8% of arrivals were cleared in less than 15 minutes, demonstrating the airport’s remarkable efficiency while processing 86.75 million baggage, a 4.95% increase year over year.
There were roughly 454,000 aircraft movements, with an average load ratio of 77.6% and an average of 214 passengers each flight.
“Dubai International showed in 2025 that record traffic is no longer an exception, but part of its operating reality,” said Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, who characterized the accomplishment as a sign of maturity rather than a one-off high.
Despite persistent regional issues, the emirate’s economic vigor, tourism attractiveness, and strategic location at a crossroads between East and West propelled the boom.
With approximately 8.8 million passengers, December 2025 turned out to be the biggest month on record, and the airport continued to grow strongly into 2026.
The largest number of passengers ever recorded at DXB was 324,000 on January 3, a single-day high in early January.
Worldwide dominance in international traffic
Dubai International Airport is the busiest airport in the world for international travel, even though Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) continues to lead the world in overall passenger traffic (including large domestic volumes) according to numerous rankings.
For example, OAG’s 2025 data shows that ATL has 63.1 million seats, compared to DXB’s 62.4 million.
For many years, DXB has maintained its dominance in both international passenger volume and seat capacity.
In addition to the expanding operations of flydubai and numerous other airlines, the airport is the main hub for Emirates, the largest international airline in the world by the number of people it carries.
DXB is a truly global connection, with more than 100 airlines operating more than 8,500 weekly flights to more than 270 destinations on every inhabited continent.
Approaching 100 million travelers
Dubai Airports anticipates welcoming 99.5 million passengers in 2026, which is tantalisingly near to the significant 100 million milestone, according to updated predictions.
Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC), which is slated to become into Dubai’s primary gateway with capacity for much larger volumes, is part of the long-term ambitions.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai, praised the announcement on social media, referring to the airport as the “lifeblood of Dubai” and highlighting its contribution to the emirate’s goal of being a premier travel destination.
