Speaking at the Delphi Paris Forum II on Thursday, Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni stated that

France is still one of Greece’s most important trading, cultural, and tourism partners.

Speaking at the Cercle de l’Union Interalliée in Paris, Kefalogianni emphasized the value of bolstering Greek-French cooperation, especially in tackling common issues and improving the travel experience via technical and cultural innovations.

France and Greece: Similar ideals, similar objectives
Kefalogianni underlined the deep-rooted ties between Greece and France, describing the two nations as “leading powers in tourism” with shared European values. She referred to concerns such as the climate catastrophe and rising competition from emerging locations, which require coordinated efforts to maintain their roles as global tourism leaders.

“Greece and France share a special connection based on shared values and cultural heritage. We can overcome these obstacles and guarantee the long-term viability of our tourism sectors if we band together,” she stated.

French travel to Greece set a record this year.
The minister emphasized the significance of the French market for Greek tourism by announcing that Greece received a record 2 million French tourists in 2024, a first for the country. She reiterated the government’s dedication to developing a top-notch tourist model that strikes a balance between local community well-being, economic growth, and cultural preservation.

Kefalogianni continued, “Our objective is to create a sustainable, year-round tourism destination that will protect the interests of our people and our cultural heritage while maintaining Greece’s appeal.”

Cultural legacy and technology as cornerstones
Cultural heritage, Kefalogianni noted, is central to Greece’s tourism strategy and serves as “an investment in the future”. She highlighted the government’s efforts to link cultural activities with tourism, offering visitors a differentiated and enriched travel experience.

“By combining culture with innovative programs, we not only showcase Greece’s rich heritage but also set the stage for a more engaging and modern tourist experience,” she said.

Kefalogianni also underlined the revolutionary potential of technology, particularly artificial intelligence, in altering the future of travel. She asserted that technology has the power to drastically alter how tourists perceive travel, making it more personalized and engaging.

Delphi Paris Forum II: A forum for communication

Government representatives, legislators, economists, scholars, and prominent businesspeople from France and Greece. The forum’s objectives are to fortify Greece and

France’s long-standing partnership and investigate prospects for additional cooperation in a range of fields.

The forum was organized by the Delphi Economic Forum during and held under the auspices of the Permanent Greek.

Representation to the OECD and the General Secretariat of Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy of the Greek Foreign Affairs Ministry. The event provided a platform for discussing global challenges and fostering international collaboration.
