The Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism and its Budapest Tourism Office organized an event to promote China’s winter tourism offerings while celebrating the upcoming Chinese Spring Festival.
The event featured cultural activities and vivid video presentations that highlighted China’s iconic winter destinations known for their rich ice and snow resources
showcasing regions like Xinjiang, Heilongjiang, Jilin, Inner Mongolia, and Hebei as top travel destinations. Li Huixin, director of the China National Tourist Office in Budapest, emphasized the potential for cooperation between China and the Central and Eastern European nations, pointing out their roles as both important source markets and popular tourist destinations.
According to Li, the country’s snow tourism resources make it a top destination for winter sports enthusiasts around the world.
Highlighted attractions include the Tianshan Ski Resort in Xinjiang, Zhangjiakou Chongli (a major venue for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics),
and Changbai Mountain and Harbin Ice and Snow World in the Northeast. Hungarian students Janka Kenez,
who is pursuing a master’s degree in China Studies at Eotvos Lorand University (ELTE), spoke to Xinhua about her own travel experiences in China, saying,
“Traveling through China is not just about famous sites like the Great Wall, it’s about the personal encounters that touch your heart.” She expressed admiration for the country’s natural beauty, calling winter a great time to visit, and Balazs Szigethy, an ELTE PhD student, emphasized the ease of exploring in China.

“Exploring China has never been easier thanks to high-speed rail and user-friendly apps
” he said, urging attendees to get a firsthand look at the nation’s winter attractions and its people.
Interactive activities such as a lucky draw and a digital game to
“light up” ice lanterns were also included in the event. Guests also enjoyed Chinese delicacies and a musical performance of the “Spring Festival Overture” by the Cantabile Trio.
The event showcased the connection between China’s winter tourism options and its rich cultural legacy
enticing participants to explore the charm of the Chinese Spring Festival and beyond .
