Partners are urged by Tourism CS to support the Wildlife Census

According to Miano, the information and data gathered will help develop more successful wildlife conservation plans.
According to her, the census aimed to ascertain the number, distribution, and shifting patterns of wildlife as well as the issues that led to habitat loss and wildlife deaths during the drought of 2022.
On Wednesday, the CS spoke at the 22nd graduation ceremony of the Wildlife Research and Training Institute in Naivasha, where 282 students received certificates and diplomas for a range of courses pertaining to wildlife and tourism.
The census takes place at a time when the nation’s wildlife is dealing with a number of problems, such as growing populations of people and animals, an increase in infectious zoonotic illnesses, and climate change-related problems including drought and flooding.
In addition to resolving concerns with wildlife farming and the economics to reverse the threat of bush meat, she said the exercise was essential for safeguarding Kenya’s natural heritage and ecological sustainability.
Participating in this exercise are important parties such as the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), National Census Planning Committee, Kenya Wildlife Conservancies Association, and Conservation Alliance of Kenya.
Additionally, the CS stated that the WRTI’s curriculum was being reviewed in an effort to bring it into compliance with Competency Based Education standards.
They also urged Dr. Patrick Omondi, the WRTI’s director and CEO, to expedite the process and obtain the required.
She added that in order to give WRTI students greater options, the Tourism Fund had established a Tourism Training.

The National Commission for Science, Technology, and Innovation (NACOSTI) recently registered us as a National Research Institution.
