Egypt, France strengthen tourism, antiquities cooperation

 Updates on collaborative archeological projects and methods to boost French inbound tourism were discussed

Minister Fathy conveyed his admiration for the long-standing, strategic connections between Egypt and France, highlighting the notable advancements in the two nations’ bilateral ties in recent years, which have been supported by visits by their leaders.

He emphasized that Egypt is expected to reach pre-COVID-19 tourism levels by the end of 2024.

Fathy highlighted how Egypt’s infrastructure improvements, such as new cities, better roads, airports, and bridges.

He highlighted the North Coast as a promising tourism destination with 105 different nationalities.

The North Coast and the region between Sphinx International Airport and the Saqqara Pyramid, which includes the Grand Egyptian Museum and the Pyramids, are important tourist destinations for which the Minister announced intentions to create.

These initiatives are intended to draw in investments and build new lodging facilities, entertainment venues, and business.

Fathy also described the Ministry’s continuous initiatives to improve and create new goods in order to broaden Egypt’s tourist offerings.

Emphasized efforts to promote ecotourism, spiritual tourism, and medical tourism, as well as the resurgence of long Nile.

Additional updates included developments on the Giza Pyramids expansion project, which will include improved tourist amenities and a special recreation area for horses and camels, and the Grand Egyptian Museum, which is presently conducting trial operations

Minister pointed out that a nationwide initiative is enhancing the care of animals in ancient sites.

Egypt as a top tourism destination

Egypt is a top tourism destination for French people, especially because of its rich cultural legacy.

He underlined that 48 French archaeological missions actively support successful restoration and excavation initiatives.

Recent accomplishments include the restoration of the open museum at Karnak Temple.

improved illumination in the tombs at Deir el-Medina in Luxor, and the restoration of Hesy-Ra’s tomb in egypt.

Chevalier also emphasized France’s interests in Egypt’s hospitality industry, pointing out that many French businesses are involved in hotel construction.
