Moroccan Tourism Sets New Record with Nearly 16 Million Visitors

With 15.9 million visitors by the end of November 2024, Moroccan tourism sector is celebrating a remarkable accomplishment

Compared to the same time in 2023, this is a remarkable 20% growth, bringing 2.6 million more tourists to the nation.

According to the statement, a notable 23% increase in foreign visitors—an additional 1.5 million arrivals—is the main driver of the spike. Furthermore, Moroccan Residents Abroad (MRE) shown a high level of interest in traveling back to their homeland, accounting for an additional 1.1 million visitors with a 17% surge.

Morocco saw 1.3 million visitors in November alone, a 31% increase over the same month in 2023.

The accomplishment was praised by Morocco’s Minister of Tourism, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, who said: “This is an unprecedented milestone in the dynamic history of Moroccan tourism.” These astounding numbers demonstrate the effectiveness of our plan and signal a significant advancement toward our objective of ranking Morocco among the top 15 tourism destinations in the world.

Ammor stated on LinkedIn that although her ministry “couldn’t help but announce this historic milestone with everyone,”.

Ministry of Tourism and the National Tourism have made specific efforts that have led to Morocco’s record-breaking figures.

Creating alliances with foreign airlines to open new routes linking Moroccan cities to locations across the globe has been one of the main efforts. Travelers now have easier access to Morocco thanks to these collaborations.

In order to promote Morocco as a must-see location, the ONMT has also started a number of marketing campaigns.

These initiatives have brought attention to the nation’s history, culture, hospitality, and scenic beauty.

The North African nation moved up 10 spots from 41st to 31st place in the World Tourism Organization’s (UNWTO).
