Which airlines have resumed flights to Lebanon?
Following the recent war with Israel, which interrupted air traffic and resulted in the suspension of all flights to lebanon
The majority of Arab and international flights are expected to resume to Lebanon by mid-December.
On December 4, Ali Hamieh, the acting minister of public works and transportation, declared that he had given his approval for airlines to resume flights to and from Beirut’s international airport.
He stated, “Most Arab and foreign airlines should be back to normal operations by mid-December,” according to the demand for travel around Christmas and New Year’s.
Hamieh added that Lebanon’s ports had been open during the war and were still open.
According to him, his ministry is attempting to repair damaged roads so they are usable and clear, particularly those that connect important southern cities and those in Baalbek and the Bekaa Valley.
Hamieh added that although several connecting bridges were destroyed, it was now possible to cross the northern border with Syria.
Three days after a ceasefire went into force on November 27, Israel launched attacks on the Jousieh crossing, the al-Hawz bridge, and the Joubanieh bridge impacting tourism.
“The Masnaa crossing is now accessible, while the there remains some challenges in rebuilding some of the Syrian border bridges destroyed by Israeli bombings,” the minister stated, noting that “financial resources were available to repair them but the process will take some time.”
A significant step in Lebanon’s recovery efforts, the flight restart brings some normalcy ahead of the holidays. While some carriers move quickly to meet demand from the Lebanese diaspora, others choose to wait until after the holidays.
