Over 47 million foreign tourists visit Türkiye in 10 months

The number of foreign visitors to Turkey rose as 47 million foreign tourists visit Türkiye according to the Culture and Tourism Ministry

In the first ten months of 2024, 54.6 million tourists visited Turkey, including Turks living overseas.

5.45 million foreign tourists visited the nation in October alone, a 9.25% rise over the previous year.

According to ministry data, Russians made up the largest group of foreign tourists, followed by Germans and Britons.

Russian vacationers in Turkey increased by 7.1 percent from January to October compared to the same time previous year, reaching 6.25 million, or 13.2 percent of all foreign visitors.

Over 6 million Germans traveled to the nation during this time, an increase of 6.4% from the previous year.

The most recent data shows a 17 percent annual increase in British tourists to 4.2 million.

Additionally, 2.45 million Bulgarian and 2.76 million Iranian tourists visited Turkey in the first ten months of this year.
Between January and October, the number of Ukrainian visitors traveling to Turkey increased by 13.3% annually to 848,342.

Istanbul continued to be the most popular tourism destination.

In the first ten months, 15.8 million tourists visited the megacity, accounting for 33% of all arrivals.

15.2 million foreign visitors visited Antalya, a Mediterranean province.

The province of Edirne in the northwest received around 4 million foreign visitors. People visit to Edirne for shopping, primarily from Bulgaria and other nearby countries.

Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, the minister of tourism, recently said that the goal for tourists at the end of the year has been changed from 60 million to 61 million.

In the first nine months of 2024, Turkey’s tourism revenue climbed 6.6% to $46.9 billion compared to the same period last year.

At first, the government set a goal of $60 billion in 2024 tourism earnings.

The Turkish Tourism Investors Association (TTYD) said this week that Istanbul will hold a significant tourism event on November 26–27.

According to the association, the Tourism Investment Forum (TIF) 2024 will convene global investors, financial institutions, hotel brands, innovators, and real estate developers, among others, to examine investment prospects in Turkey.

Over 1,000 participants, or almost $10 trillion in the global tourist ecosystem, are anticipated to join TIF.
