Dutch charter airline TUI resumes flights to East Africa for the first time in six years amidst boosting regional tourism

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) serves as a hub for the Dutch charter airline Arkefly (OR).

More than 50 locations in Europe, Africa, North America, the Caribbean, South America, and Asia are served by the airline, also known as Arke.

For the first time in six years, a Boeing Dreamliner touched down at Moi International Airport (MIA) in Mombasa, Kenya.

Signaling the start of Dutch charter carrier TUI’s flights back to East Africa. It is anticipated that this upgraded service, which links Mombasa and Zanzibar.

Forty percent of the passengers on the inaugural flight intended to visit different tourism locations in East Africa, while the remaining passengers proceeded to Zanzibar.

This return reflects improved security and economic stability, following years of interrupted services due to security concerns and COVID-19.

East Africa tourism officials emphasize that this aligns with ongoing tourism recovery efforts, including new campaigns to attract international visitors.

TUI’s bi-weekly flights provide a direct boost to regional tourism, underscoring East Africa’s appeal as a destination for natural and cultural experiences.
