Pilot dies in mid Air to Turkey, emergency landing in New York City

Pilot dies in mid Air to Turkey, emergency landing in New York City. No causalities, Tourists and all passengers are safe.

Just before 6 a.m on Wednesday, Turkish Airlines Flight 8JK, departing from Seattle to Istanbul, touched down at John F. Kennedy International Airport without incident.

According to authorities, a Turkish Airlines pilot passed away during the flight, requiring the co-pilot to make an emergency landing in New York City on Wednesday morning.

An FAA statement states that Flight 8JK touched down at John F. Kennedy International Airport safely just before six in the morning.

The co-pilot decided to land the aircraft when pilot İlçehin Pehlivan, 59, “fainted during the flight” and “medical intervention to our captain on the plane was ineffective,” according to a Turkish Airlines statement.

Sadly, the airline reports that “our captain lost his life before landing.” Since 2007, Pehlivan has been employed by the airline.

Before the emergency occurred, the Airbus A350 was en route to Istanbul when it took off from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on Tuesday at 7:02 p.m. PT, according to the tracking service FlightAware.

In the past, similar incidents have happened to the Airline industry, where by mid Air, curtain Captains fall sick and passed on resulting into emergency landing of the planes they were flying.

Good enough, most of these emergency landings have been successful without causing any fatalities.
