Although the Foreign Office considers the United Arab Emirates to be a safe travel destination and advises British Tourists travelling there.

Britons should use normal vigilance against engaging in criminal activity, there is growing concern because of the country’s closeness to Iran across the occasionally unstable Persian Gulf seas.

FCDO guidelines

The FCDO warns UK citizens about the ongoing threat of terrorism but does not go so far as to discourage travel to the UAE.

The statement on the warning said, “Terrorists are likely to try to carry out attacks in the UAE.”

FCDO’s most recent guidelines, released on September 29, show the increasing conflict-related volatility in Lebanon.

“Ongoing hostilities between Israel and Lebanon could escalate quickly and pose risks for the wider region,” an official statement from the FCDO said. Tourists should keep an eye on this travel advise as well as other media because things are changing fast.

Because the UAE is a Muslim nation, visitors are urged to observe local rules, especially during Ramadan.

Illegal activities include drug use, same-sex relationships, and drinking in public.

There are still flights to and from Dubai and the capital city of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi, despite regional difficulties.

However, planes travelling from Europe to the gulf on Tuesday evening experienced severe disruptions due to brief airspace closures over Israel, Iran, Jordan, Iraq, and Lebanon.

Flight cancellation

Flights from Dubai to the UK were “cancelled” due to worries of a “regional war” in the Middle East.

The two biggest Middle Eastern airlines, Emirates and Qatar Airways, had to divert dozens of flights as a result.

Flight delays and cancellations are expected, according to Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates.

“Etihad Airways flights only operate through approved airspace,” the statement read.

“Our first concern is always safety; we wouldn’t run a flight unless it was absolutely safe to do so.

The airline is constantly keeping an eye on security and airspace updates due to the evolving nature of the situation.”
