Plane packed with narcotics makes emergency landing on highway in California carrying 2 Tourists or occupants.
According to California authorities, a plane carrying a “large” amount of drugs makes an emergency landing on a highway.
On landing, it was intercepted by police there leading to the arrest of two persons.
The Oceanside Police Department says in a news release that the aircraft touched down on State Route 76 just before two in the morning on Thursday, September 26.
The Federal Aviation Administration says that the Piper PA-28, which is a single-engine aircraft, has two Tourists at the time.
Police say that neither of the occupants or travellers is injured during landing.
The pilot continue to say to the authorities that “engine failure” is the reason for the emergency landing.
Police claim that “a large quantity of narcotics” has been discovered during the plane’s search.
The pilot and passenger of the aircraft, who are both from Oceanside, have been taken into custody on suspicion of “illegal transportation of narcotics,” according to the police.
The FAA says that it is looking into the occurrence.
Driving from California San Diego to Oceanside takes around 40 miles.
