Dubai floods as Oman’s death toll from the rain fall rises today

Today, heavy rain fall is causing massive flash floods in Dubai, submerging homes and businesses and turning roadways into rivers.

Intriguing footage are showing the tarmac of c, which is the second busiest airport in the world, submerged.

Several large planes try to fly above the flooding water.

Waves are surging over the deep water, and large jets blast water in their wake, making them appear more like boats flying through the inundated airport.

This busiest Airport has closed for about thirty minutes.

“There is still a significant disruption to operations,” the airport states in a notice.

Dubai floods“The airport’s access roads around Dubai are severely flooding and impassable.”

Events of torrential downpour such as these will occur more frequently as a result of climate change brought on by humans.

More moisture can be absorbed by the atmosphere like a towel as it warms, and more intense bursts of flooding rain will come out as a result.

The rain, submerging Dubai is part of a larger storm system that is sweeping across the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Peninsula.

It is extending to Southeast Iran and neighbouring Oman.

These countries are also experiencing exceptionally rainy weather due to this same cyclone.

Tuesday night will see a slowdown in the region’s rainfall, but on Wednesday there might be a few more showers before the dry weather returns.

These intense rainstorms in the United Arab Emirates are causing major highways to flood.

In certain areas people are leaving cars and abandoning them on Dubai’s roads.

As the sultanate braced for the storm, the death toll from a separate, severe flooding incident in neighbouring Oman has increased to 18, and there are still unaccounted for deaths.
